Why healthy indoor plants can make your people naturally healthier, more productive and save you money
Healthy indoor plants absorb many of the nasty chemicals that re-circulate through air conditioning in workplaces and commercial premises.
These chemicals come from furniture, paint, solvents, cleaning products and building materials. When combined with low levels of oxygen through re-circulated air (as we breathe out carbon dioxide), we can suffer from nausea, dizziness, headaches, fatigue, and skin, eye, nose and throat irritation.
This is called Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). SBS results in millions of dollars lost every year through sickness and lost productivity.
Plants breathe out oxygen and help replace what we inhale from air conditioned or closed environments. The right levels of oxygen in enclosed environments help us to think better, remember things, improve reaction time and reduce stress, including headaches.
Poorly ventilated buildings with lower oxygen levels have been directly linked with Sick Building Syndrome.
So, by installing healthy indoor plants and keeping them well maintained, you can enjoy higher levels of oxygen in your premises and avoid absorbing some of the chemicals known to cause SBS.
A study of tax workers in the Netherland showed a 12 percent improvement in productivity of those who had plants near their computers and who worked for more then four hours per day!
